Objects of Desire is a witty, retro portrait project seamlessly incorporating 3 dimensional objects onto 2dimensional space. It begs questions about photography, collage, multi-media, and the confusion between subject and object, especially concerning women and the objects they hold dear.
My goal is to literally push the photographic image out of it’s boundaries of the frame, and incorporate other objects, media and experiences into viewing photographically based work.
There is an element of trompe l’Oeil in these images; while looking at them straight on, there is confusion where the photograph ends the object resides. An actual object is mounted to the front of the photograph. My subject pokes fun at collecting, identity, women, and domesticity.
