ANONYMOUS WOMAN: DRAPED
Anonymous Women: Draped is a series of staged photographs in which a woman disappears into patterned drapery, fabrics, and domestic interiors, exploring identity, camouflage, and the psychology of home.
The work was partly inspired by the Wizard of Oz command, “Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain,” a reminder that power and influence often operate quietly behind the scenes. In many homes, women orchestrate beauty, order, and comfort while remaining largely unseen. These images explore how domestic spaces can both nurture and obscure identity, as objects, textiles, and decoration accumulate until the environment becomes a form of camouflage. The drapery in these photographs acts as both metaphor and material, wrapping the figure in playful yet claustrophobic layers that blur the boundary between self and surroundings. Ultimately, the work reflects the hidden psychological worlds formed by memory, tradition, and private experience that shape who we are beneath the surface of everyday life.
