FLORA AND FAUXNA:STILLS

Flora and Fauxna is a still-life series of photographs and assemblages using bird figurines, decorative fabric, and artificial flowers to create sumptuous ornate worlds. Unlike traditional still-life images, these photographs show no horizon line, dramatic lighting or symbols of death and decay. Instead, they celebrate home, color, and lovely birds who, in most cultures, are messengers  between heaven and earth. The worlds in these images reflect the home life of birds in nature while symbolizing the nesting instincts of women whose homes are a sanctuary of pride and obsession.
